Tutopiya, a Singapore-based edtech startup, announces the official launch of their private live online tuition platform in Malaysia today. This venture comes at a time when online tuition is necessary amidst the MCO and social distancing measures across the nation. The platform already has over 200 customers from Malaysia taking advantage of the international tutors from around the world.

Tutopiya works with a network of highly experienced tutors to bring online tuition to students at home. With over 400 tutors and growing, Tutopiya specialises in teaching international school curricula - the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum including the Cambridge Primary & Secondary Checkpoints, which are all globally recognised examinations from Cambridge International Examinations, UK. At an affordable starting rate of RM50 per hour, Tutopiya also offers personalised packages based on the level of help each student needs and the number of subjects.

Nuha Ghouse, CEO of Tutopiya said, We are excited to launch our service in Malaysia and have already seen a lot of interest from parents looking to ensure their children’s learning is not disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to offer students access to quality online education, which is crucial at this point, so we have one of the largest and thoroughly vetted active databases of quality IGCSE teachers to ensure we provide the highest standard of IGCSE online tuition.”

Tutopiya has already built a growing customer base of over 200 customers in Malaysia.

A growing interest in international education

The Cambridge IGCSE programme is taken by Year 10 and 11 students while younger students take the Cambridge Primary & Secondary checkpoints in preparation for the IGCSE. Recently, more students and parents in Malaysia are embracing the international curriculum due to its prestige and global recognition. Across the nation, there are over 160 international schools and this number continues to grow, spurred on by higher demand for IB and IGCSE curricula, which are renowned for their excellence and recognition.

Through this pursuit of education, Tutopiya aims to provide students with the support they need to prepare for the IGCSE examinations, which typically comprises six to ten different subjects and is taken at the end of the two-year programme. Students who are in government and public schools can opt to take the examinations privately if they wish to expand their opportunities by gaining a qualification that has international recognition

To help equip learners with the right knowledge and skills, Tutopiya offers online tuition by internationally qualified subject specialist IGCSE teachers for all IGCSE subjects. Their portfolio of tutors is selectively and privately screened to ensure that they provide students with the best education possible. Receiving private live and interactive lessons without leaving the home.

Through Tutopiya’s advanced mobile app & web-based platform, students and teachers have a range of features that provides a complete solution for online learning - live lessons, practice assignments, progress tracking, feedback, lesson recordings, etc. This makes online learning most effective, efficient and best of all convenient.

Traditionally, students that take part in tuition outside of school will have to travel to their tutor’s homes or vice versa. However, with more restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and MCO, it is not a viable option for many.

By removing the physical barrier, learners in Malaysia will have more opportunities and chances for exploring new and qualified educators. Tutors can gain a better understanding of each student through one-on-one time. Through this communication, tutors can deliver customised lessons that suit their individual needs and learning styles for the best outcomes.

For the IGCSE Home Schooling Package, users can sign up for five different packages, starting at 5 subjects for 40 hours a month, 6 subjects for 48 hours a month, 7 subjects for 56 a month, 8 subjects for 64 hours a month and 9 subjects for 72 hours a month.

Nuha added, “We focus on quality so that each student is given personalised lessons which are up to date with the latest IGCSE exam syllabus and taught by an experienced & trained IGCSE subject-specialist Tutor. Our business model puts academic quality control at the forefront. Each tutor is carefully vetted based on their qualifications, subject specialisation and levels they teach in line with the needs of our students. We are passionate educators, which is why we want all our tutors to be able to build meaningful connections and impart valuable knowledge to their students for the long term.”

“I have joined Tutopiya a couple of months back for revision purposes for my IGCSE exams which are to be held in the upcoming weeks. Tutopiya has provided friendly and experienced tutors that have helped me to strengthen my weaker points of the subject and help me to be confident to sit for my exams. Apart from that, the customer success has been providing prompt and friendly service. Highly recommended!!!” - said one of their students
