Google is planning to open a new office in Pune in the second half of 2022. People will be hired for Cloud product engineering, technical support, and global delivery centre organisations at the location. The company said that it has begun hiring alongside fast-expanding teams in Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. As it tries to compete with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft, Google has been aggressively growing its Cloud division in the country with key leadership hires. The new hires will be in charge of developing advanced enterprise cloud technologies in collaboration with Google Cloud's global engineering teams, providing real-time technical advice, and delivering product and implementation expertise that customers look to Google Cloud for as a trusted partner in their digital transformation journey.

"Our expansion into Pune as an IT hub will allow us to harness top talent as we continue to build breakthrough cloud computing solutions, products, and services for our growing customer base," said Anil Bhansali, VP of Cloud Engineering in India.

Last year, Google built its second Cloud region in India, in Delhi-NCR, near to government offices, to better serve businesses of all kinds, particularly the public sector. In recent months, Google Cloud India has recruited a number of prominent industry figures for its India operations, including former AWS veteran Bikram Singh Bedi as Managing Director and senior IBM executive Subram Natarajan as Director of Customer Engineering.
