Disney+ Reveals Entertainment Content Highlights in Singapore, Including Exclusive Films & Series

Disney+ upcoming slate includes Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision,” “The Mandalorian,” “Inside Pixar,” “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted,” and “Grey’s Anatomy”

“Raya and the Last Dragon,” Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Southeast Asia-inspired fantasy film, will be released through Disney+ Premier Access alongside its theatrical release on 5 March this year.

The Walt Disney Company has announced what Disney+ subscribers in Singapore – the first market globally to launch Disney+ with all six iconic content brands including Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic, as well as Star – can expect on the highly anticipated streaming service. The announcement was made live from the state-of-the-art Hybrid Broadcast Studio at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

“We are excited to officially introduce several distinguished titles that will soon be available in Singapore on Disney+ as we continue to deliver high-quality content and captivating stories, even on the small screens. From iconic Disney classics, to brand-new features from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars galaxy, and to documentaries and dramas; we are advancing the subscription video-on-demand experience with an unparalleled catalogue of entertainment,” said Amit Malhotra, Regional Lead, Emerging Markets; The Walt Disney Company APAC.

Hosted by Bobby Tonelli, the event showcased the unique content offerings that will be available on Disney+. Kicking off with Marvel, subscribers can look forward to all-new, original series from Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision,” “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” and “Loki, premiering exclusively on Disney+ in 2021, “What If…?,” the first animated series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring stories that present alternate realities in the Marvel universe; “Ms. Marvel,” a new series that introduces Kamala Khan – 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City; and “Hawkeye,” which stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, who teams up with another well-known archer from the Marvel comics, Kate Bishop.

Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, also joined in on the excitement and connected virtually for a live Q&A session with the attendees. “The Cinematic Universe weaves storylines, heroes and villains across 23 feature films to date. And with Disney+, we’re able to extend this way of storytelling to a new format – creating series that are connected to our theatrical releases, making the MCU more immersive than ever,” said Feige in a recent presentation.

Disney Animation’s “Raya and the Last Dragon,” a fantasy film inspired by the cultures and people of Southeast Asia, will be released simultaneously in theatres and on Disney+ with Premier Access. Producer Osnat Shurer said: “Southeast Asia is a region filled with deep and vibrant cultures, and each country is uniquely different from the other. Learning from the people, the places, the values, the lifestyles in consultation with our Southeast Asia Story Trust greatly inspired our storytelling. We hope that fans from the communities of Southeast Asia will enjoy the adventures of Raya and Sisu.” Shurer shared about her experiences working on the film in a virtual live Q&A session with the attendees.

Delving deeper into the content slate, attendees were shown a sneak preview of “Pixar Popcorn,” a collection of mini shorts featuring Pixar characters in all-new, bite-size stories created by Pixar’s talented animators. Disney+ subscribers can also look forward to “Dug Days,” a new collection of shorts that follows the humorous misadventures of Dug, the lovable dog from Disney and Pixar’s “Up,” and Pixar’s first-ever long-form animated series “Win or Lose,” which debuts exclusively on Disney+ in 2023.

Expanding the Star Wars galaxy like never before, new projects for Disney+ include “Rangers of the New Republic,” “Ahsoka,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. The animated series, “The Bad Batch” will also arrive exclusively on Disney+, featuring the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

Disney+ will be home to the highly anticipated Disney+ Originals, including the epic first-ever live-action Star Wars series, “The Mandalorian,” “Godmothered,” “Flora & Ulysses,” “Inside Pixar,” and high quality content from National Geographic such as “The Right Stuff” and “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted”.

Star, the new content brand launching on Disney+, brings a collection of renowned general entertainment series, movies documentaries content for families, older teens, and adults. These include recipient of the 2007 Golden Globe® Award for Best Drama Television Series, “Grey’s Anatomy,” Emmy Award-winning comedy series “How I Met Your Mother,” as well as Star Originals “Big Sky” and “Helstrom”.

Offering an exceptional and expansive selection of over 650 films and 15,000 episodes of content from The Walt Disney Company’s greatest storytellers, Disney+ promises thousands of hours of entertainment for all ages, all in one place.

Disney+ will launch in Singapore on 23 February, 2021 for a fee of S$11.98 a month or S$119.98 a year. The service will be available on a wide range of mobile and connected devices, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs. In addition, existing and new StarHub Mobile, TV and Broadband customers will be able to enjoy up to two years of access to Disney+. They can stream their favourite stories across screens and services, from Singapore’s widest-coverage 5G network to the best all-in-one StarHub TV+ entertainment platform.

Marvel

WandaVision

WandaVision”is Marvel Studios’ first series that continues to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are two super-powered beings are living idealized suburban lives, but begin to suspect everything is not as it seems. The new series is directed by Matt Shakman; Jac Shaeffer is head writer. “WandaVision” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of “Avengers: Endgame,” team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience. Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the six-episode series also stars Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker. “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” starts streaming on Disney+ in Singapore from March 19th.

Loki

Loki”is set to debut on Disney+ in May 2021 featuring the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs “Loki”, and Michael Waldron is head writer.

Raya and the Last Dragon

Raya and the Last Dragon”, which will be released on March 5, 2021, simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access, travels to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well. “Raya and the Last Dragon”features the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya, a warrior whose wit is as sharp as her blade, and Awkwafina as magical, mythical, self-deprecating dragon named Sisu. Newly revealed characters from the film include a street-savvy 10-year-old entrepreneur named Boun, the formidable giant Tong, and a thieving toddler Noi with her band of Ongis. The feature film is directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada and produced by Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho.

Godmothered

Set at Christmas time, “Godmothered” is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell), who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “happily ever after,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not. “Godmothered” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

Flora & Ulysses 

Disney’s “Flora & Ulysses” is a comedy-adventure based on the Newbery Award-winning book about 10-year old Flora, an avid comic book fan and a self-avowed cynic, whose parents have recently separated. After rescuing a squirrel she names Ulysses, Flora is amazed to discover he possesses unique superhero powers which take them on an adventure of humorous complications that ultimately change Flora’s life–and her outlook–forever.

Flora & Ulysses” stars Matilda Lawler, Alyson Hannigan, Ben Schwartz, Anna Deavere Smith, Danny Pudi, Benjamin Evans Ainsworth, Janeane Garofolo and Kate McCucci. It was directed by Lena Khan and produced by Gil Netter. Based on the novel “Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures” by Kate DiCamillo, the film’s screenplay is by Brad Copeland. Katterli Frauenfelder and James Powers served as executive producers. “Flora & Ulysses” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

Pixar Popcorn

Pixar Popcorn” is a collection of mini shorts featuring Pixar characters in all-new, bite-size stories created by Pixar’s talented animators.“Pixar Popcorn” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

Inside Pixar

A documentary series of personal and cinematic stories that provide an inside look into the people, artistry, and culture of Pixar Animation Studios. “Inside Pixar” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

Star Wars:

The Mandalorian

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. “The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. “The Mandalorian” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

The Bad Batch

The Bad Batch” follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose. This animated series will arrive exclusively on Disney+ in 2021.

National Geographic

Gordon Ramsay: Unchartered

In the National Geographic series “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted”, chef Gordon Ramsay journeys to some of the most incredible and remote locations on Earth in search of culinary inspiration, epic adventures, and cultural experiences he will never forget. “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

The Right Stuff

At the height of the Cold War in 1959, the Soviet Union dominates the space race. To combat a national sentiment of fear and decline, the U.S. government conceives of NASA’s Project Mercury, igniting a space race with the Soviets and making instant celebrities of a handful of the military’s most accomplished test pilots. These individuals, who come to be known as the Mercury Seven, are forged into heroes long before they have achieved a single heroic act. The nation’s best engineers estimate they need several decades to make it into outer space. They are given two years. “The Right Stuff” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

The high-intensity medical drama follows Meredith Grey and the team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial who are faced with life-or-death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another, and, at times, more than just friendship. Together they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white. “Grey’s Anatomy” will be available on Disney+ in Singapore at launch.

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother” is an Emmy Award-winning comedy series about Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he fell in love. It all started when Ted’s best friend, Marshall (Jason Segel), dropped the bombshell that he was going to propose to his long-time girlfriend, and now wife, Lily (Alyson Hannigan), a kindergarten teacher. At that moment, Ted realized that he had better get a move on if he too hopes to find true love. Helping him in his quest is Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), a friend with endless, sometimes outrageous opinions, a penchant for suits and a fool proof way to meet women. When Ted met Robin (Cobie Smulders), it was love at first sight, but when things didn’t work out, Ted realized destiny must have something else in store.
